Gary Player DMS, OIG is a retired South African professional golfer who is considered by many to be one of the greatest golfers of all time. During his career, Player won 9 major championships in regular tournaments and 9 major leagues in Champions tournaments. At the age of 29, the tennis player won the 1965 US Open and became the only non-American to win all four major tournaments of his career, known as the career Grand Slam. At the time, he was the youngest player to do this, although Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods later broke the record. He became the third golfer in history to win a Grand Slam in his career, behind Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen, and only Nicklaus and Woods have made it since. He has won over 160 professional tournaments across six continents in seven decades and was inducted into the Golf World Hall of Fame in 1974 .
